2013 was a breakout year for award winning songbird Tasha T. Her latest singles, “In A Di Jungle’ and “Mouth A Matic," not only raised eyebrows but stamped her as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. “I am so excited with the recent turn of events," says Tasha T who recently wrapped up a mini USA tour. “I am looking forward to more bookings for shows and festivals especially with my new album “Real Talk” to be released in 2014”.
Born in Canada to Jamaican parents, Natasha Whyte (Tasha’s birth name) describes herself as, “loving, jovial, God fearing” person, who finds wonder and delight in creating positive themed Reggae Music. She grew up adopting the Rastafarian faith, which has shaped her as a strong woman who makes music that educates, uplifts, inspires and motivates all people.
This Mother, daughter, sister, Sing-jay, writer, producer, record label owner and new artist consultant, has been creating music since the 1990’s. With her parents at her side, she founded RasVibe Records Inc and has released over thirty singles that have charted across North America, Africa, and Europe. As a result, she has been recognized with over nineteen awards for her dedication and diligent work in the Reggae industry.
Tasha T also had the honor of being chosen to serve as the Musical Ambassador for the “Read Across Jamaica Foundation," that promotes and encourages reading literacy in schools across the island. Her inspirational theme song, “Educate Yourself,” has met with great success in this endeavor.
The petite songstress with a big voice and distinctive vocal styling continues to delight Reggae lovers, leaving an indelible impression on audiences all over the world. Her music comes from current trending topics, personal experience and issues affecting her community. Titles like “In A Di Jungle," “Only A Woman Knows," “True Love," “World In A Turmoil," and “Real Talk," all chronicle the hardships and triumphs of the human spirit, from a woman’s perspective.
As Tasha writes and produces her second album “Real Talk," she maintains that it is difficult for a woman in the Reggae industry. However, despite the obstacles she remains focused and determined to inspire people through her music. This multi-faceted lady is a tribute to female fortitude and drive, she is beautiful, gifted, talented, humble and extremely passionate. She is on a mission and poised to accomplish it all.
